Since its inception in 1963, the engineers at Porsche have spent nearly every moment overcoming a design flaw that makes the 911 unique; a rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive car is inherently unstable. In spite of this obstacle, the car stands as an example of what a sports car should be, and the 911 50th Anniversary Edition ($125,000 USD) continues that heritage. With a 430 hp flat six that reaches speeds of 186 mph and does zero to 60 in 4.2 seconds, it's equally at home on the road or the track. Porsche Active Suspension Management, a sport exhaust system, and 20-inch wheels recall its 50-year history of performance. With only 1,963 models going into production, you'd better reserve yours now.
The Jaguar F-Type is a very important car for the British marque, so any chance it gets to promote it is exploited at maximum. Following Lana Del Rey’s song Burning Desire, written exclusively for the F-Type, Jaguar now presents a short film called “Desire”, which premiered today at Sundance London film and music festival. Directed by Adam Smith from Ridley Scott Associates, the film features Golden Globe & Emmy Award winning actor Damian Lewis, Spanish actor Jordi Mollà and American actor Shannyn Sossamon. Enjoy.
The face of fashion is often thought to be the models themselves, perhaps even the people who wear a given brand. Yet perhaps James Franco saw beyond this notion, evidenced by a new film, entitled The Director. Franco assumed the role of producer while helping to create a behind-the-scenes look at Gucci‘s leading woman, creative director Frida Giannini. Where some play rock star as creative directors, living outwardly and wearing their talents on the proverbial sleeve, Giannini prefers her work do the talking. This interesting insight into the iconic brand was premiered at the TriBeCa Film Festival on April 21st. Enjoy.

Any time you see a pink car these days, the first guess you're going to make is that it's for some sort of breast cancer charity. This new special edition Rolls-Royce Ghost Extended Wheelbase called the FAB1 follows suit. The total pink whip, which is an homage to Lady Penelope’s car in Thunderbirds, is part of the DJ Chris Evans-headed project in hopes of earning £1 million for Breast Cancer Care. [See More]
If consumers want crossovers and SUVs (as all sales charts suggest), why should premium carmakers like BMW disagree? The brand with the roundel logo is keen to capitalize on the growth of this segment, something that is evident from the sales of its X-series models, which now account for one in every four new cars it delivers worldwide. Today, the Bavarian carmaker previewed its second SAC model in the form of the X4 Concept, a couple of weeks ahead of its world premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show in China on April 21th.
