Last time, Mercedes-Benz was kind enough to invite us along for a spin in its newly introduced 2014 CLA. This time we are back for another video featuring Benz‘s 2014 range of E-Class models. Taking place in Hamburg, Germany we were given a rundown on different variants of the E-Class, from the E200 to the E500, however, our test vehicle of choice was the E400 Cabriolet — the successor of the E350. Fitted with a 3-liter bi-turbo V-6 engine that is capable of an acceleration of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds, the E400 boasts 333hp and 354 lb-ft of torque at 1,600 RPM. Mercedes have also made additional changes to the interior and exterior, adding refined touches like an analog clock, redesigned surfaces with premium leathers, and a truly aggressive front that contains multi-lighting under one housing and a single bar grille, reminiscent of the SLS. Enjoy.
It isn’t too often that we see a luxury automaker produce accessories to further accentuate the exteriors of their instantly recognizable and already well-admired cars. Naturally, when Mercedes-Benz chose to produce such an accessory for their cars, they wanted to refrain from adding something that could be seen as garish and keep it decidedly simple. The Illuminated Star is none other than just that, a simple LED-infused Mercedes-Benz logo that illuminates the radiator grille of the vehicle. The star can currently be outfitted on the GL-Class MY13+, M-Class MY12+, E-Class MY14+ or CLS MY06+ models, but the carmaker hopes to extend availability to other models in the near future.
Mercedes-Benz‘s uber SUV, the G63 AMG, is set to get some new shoes this year as the German automaker has announced a 6×6 version will be made available to the public. Previously reserved for military use, the 6×6 features a pickup-style body with a spacious cargo bed and a four door, full size cab. In spite of its impressive size and weight, the car boasts a 0-60 mph time of less than six seconds thanks to the 536 horsepower V8 engine and 7G-tronic seven speed gearbox. The company plans to build just 20 to 30 vehicles a year so expect a lengthy waiting list. No word on pricing yet but it’s probably a safe bet to place this in the “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it” category.
First came the road toy,the First came the road toy,the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive in the AMG Electricbeam Magno matte yellow paint. Price? $435,000 USD. The next logical “forget you, recession” power move from the German marque is making that car into an EFFING boat: the Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept, an impossibly long watercraft painted in that same wild, volt-esque color scheme. Seen first at the Miami International Boat Show, the 38-foot long powerboat is actually run on two of the same electric powertrains that the SLS uses. [See More]
German engineering meets British charm as our friend Jonny Lieberman pits the 2013 Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG against the 2013 Aston Martin DB9 on this episode of Head 2 Head, While both brands are synonymous with luxury, underneath their hoods lies some seriously massive hand built V-12 engines. Dynamic testing & mountain roads await as we find out which is the better super coupe for the modestly wealthy. Enjoy.
It does look quite a bit like any other C-Class Benz — but a closer look at the hood should tell you that you're not dealing with any run-of-the-mill C250. The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 ($TBA) is even more powerful than the standard C63, milking 507 hp from the naturally-aspirated, 6.3L V8. All that power is good for a 0-60 time of 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 174 mph. Other features include that heat-expelling hood, taken from the Coupe Black Series, as well as light-alloy forged wheels, a sports stripe above the rocker panels, and exclusive interior and exterior liveries.
We are not sure whether Chris Harris, the BMW M6 or the Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG need an introduction. But to be on the safe side, Mr. Harris is a famous automotive engineer with a great passion for cars and amazing driving skills, the BMW M6 is the M version of BMW’s biggest coupe, the 6er and comes with a 555hp 4.4l turbocharged V8. Finally, the SL63 AMG is equipped with a 530hp 5.5l turbocharged V8, hand-built in Affalterbach, Germany.
In an effort to attract a younger crowd, Mercedes-Benz recently hired the young and very hot Kate Upton for a new Superbowl ad. Although you'll have to wait for the game to see actual ad aired, they've released a teaser that has Upton seeing to the proper cleaning of the smaller, cheaper version of their CLS-Class, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA. Watch the teaser above and keep an eye out for a hilarious twist on the "hot girl car wash" idea mid-way through. Enjoy.
BMW officially reveals the new 2014 M6 Gran Coupe ahead of its launch next summer. Neatly filling a void between the M6 Coupe and M5, the M6 Gran Coupe is BMW’s response to Audi’s S7 and Mercedes-Benz’s CLS63. Here is a four-door gran turismo packed with all the power and luxury needed — featuring a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine rated at 560 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. Power is first sent to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and onto a unique limited-slip Active M Differential before reaching the rear wheels. Watch the video after the jump. [See & Read More]
